Utilizing advanced analyses, we can detect large departures from previous years, and we review every submission to detect outliers and uncover errors. Our research team evaluates each submission for consistency, comparing similar institutions to each other and against external sources when necessary. When issues are detected, we coordinate with respondents to confirm their data before it is released publicly on our website and in our print publications.

We are a proud partner in the Common Data Set Initiative, a collaborative effort among data providers in the higher education community and publishers represented by the College Board, Peterson’s, and U.S. News & World Report. Through this partnership, we seek to improve the quality and accuracy of information provided to all who are involved in a student’s transition into higher education, as well as reduce the reporting burden on data providers.
